Strapline: Tips to maximise iPhone 13 or iPhone 14 battery life
Both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 are packed with many features. Using or learning about these features may consume a lot of energy from the battery. Both iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 have adequate battery capacities. But, the extensive range of features may drain the battery life. Fortunately, you can save battery use by applying some proven tricks.
What are the reasons behind battery draining?
The major factors that drain the iPhone 14 battery are –
- iPhone consumes a lot of battery when using mobile data
- Downloading video or photo drains the battery
- Using applications that constantly track location
- The constant activity of the background app
- Checking out new features excessively
Steps to take to boost your battery life
1. Disable the ‘display always-on’ mode
iPhone 14 Pro handsets allow an always-on display. It means the screen stays on all the time. This uses a lot of energy and eventually drains the battery. To disable the always-on display, go to Settings > Display & Brightness. Turn off the always-on setting.
Alternatively, you can modify the setting instead of disabling the feature. By disabling these toggles, your iPhone 13 and 14 will only display widgets, time, and date in lock mode.
2. Manage frame rate by changing the ProMotion setting.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion to manage the setting. Customise the settings according to your suitability to save battery life. Don’t forget to change the Limit Frame Rate setting. This trick can be used for iPhone 14 Pro Max and Pro.
On turning on this feature, you will get a refresh rate of 60Hz. However, this feature works only when the screen reaches a 1Hz refresh rate. You will save battery life and prevent the screen from reaching a refresh rate of 120Hz.
3. Turn off the auto-brightness feature.
It is an excellent battery-life-saving trick, especially for iPhone 14 Pro. When used outdoors, its brightness level can hit 2,000 nits. And it can eat your device’s battery life, especially if you are using it longer.
Follow the easy steps mentioned below to change the auto-brightness settings –
tap on settings, select accessibility, and then tap display & text size. Now scroll down this screen to disable auto-brightness.
4. Disable keyboard haptics
iOS 16 offers haptic feedback support on the keyboard of your iPhone. Besides producing sounds, the keyboard also emits a vibration. It serves as an indicator of pressing a key. But this combination consumes a lot of battery.
Turn off the Haptic and Sound to save the battery life of your iPhone 14. For this, you must select settings and tap on sounds & haptics. Then select keyboard feedback. Now turn off the toggles for both sounds and haptics.
5. Limit activity for background apps
Next on the list is disabling background app activity on the device. The different applications on our devices run in the background. This behind-the-scenes work and data refreshing ensures users get real-time notifications. There is no point in getting updates and notifications from those that are not in much use.
It is best to personalise the settings for the apps to improve your device’s battery life. Open settings, then go to general, and then select background app refresh on your iPhone 13. Now, individually select the app for background refresh. Turn on the toggle for necessary apps.
6. Turn off 5G
The 5G will give you excellent internet speed. But it also takes a lot of battery life. Also, the device may have to hunt for a signal due to the limited number of 5G towers. Hence, it is recommended to turn off 5G on the device.
To change the settings –
Select settings, and then select cellular, and then cellular data options. Now tap on voice & data. Finally, select LTE or 5G auto.
The battery charging rate of the iPhone is 20W. It will take around 30 minutes for a 50% charge. It can be tagged as ‘fast charging’. But getting a fully charged battery from a low percentage takes time. Hence, following the steps mentioned above is best to save your iPhone’s battery life. It will save you from charging your device frequently. Plus, you won’t have to face the hassles of a drained battery.
